Students Still Choose Penn State

nittany lion68,000 students applied to join the Penn State legacy via Class of 2013.  This number increased by 16,000 since 2005, a significant jump.

On the first day of class, I assumed that the university admitted an obscene amount of freshmen.  The Forum building was a standstill, and the dining halls boasted standing room only.

However, the Class of 2013 has 200 fewer students than the Class of 2012.  I guess more people go to class during the first week of school.

700 students put a commonwealth campus as their first choice during the most recent application process.  Maybe more students are trying to save money by living at home.

Anyway, tons of people are still applying to Penn State.  Perhaps applicants are choosing public schools over expensive private schools, or maybe Penn State remains awesome regardless of recession/depression/oppression.
