Penn State Students Set Guinness World Record

Students came out to the Alpha Tau Omega house yesterday afternoon to participate in the Schick Hydro Experience “Slide for Campus Pride” event. The afternoon consisted of a shaving cream Twister game, free Schick giveaways featuring their new Hydro razor, and an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for most people sliding down a slip and slide.

Organizations had a chance to win $500 if they had they had the most people sliding down the slip and slide. The Penn State Ski Club had the most slides with 510 and Atlas came in second place with 415. Other organizations that participated were Nittany Nation, THON, Alpha Tau Omega, and Sigma Phi Epsilon, among others.

The official title of the record set today is “longest distance travelled on a slip and slide in one hour”. Participants at the event slid down a total of 1,622 times, which more than doubled last weekend’s event at Indiana University.

“If you’ve ever seen the movie You’ve Got Mail, you’ll understand me when I say I have the “Kathleen Kelly Syndrome.” I often have trouble saying exactly what I mean. Instead, I find it easier to outsource by using quotes or songs to convey my message. That’s why you’ll find a few of my favorites scattered throughout this post: my senior column.”
