Students Hear Voice, Turn into Zombies

SOMA MP3 Experiment 2010Ever wonder what schizophrenia actually looks like? Well, you’d be about as close as you could get if you witnessed (but didn’t participate in) the SOMA MP3 Experiment this past weekend. And what a perfect weekend it was, what with the  wonderful weather and a whole host of bewildered parents’ weekend shoobies.

Participants downloaded the 22-minute MP3 from a Mediafire link and put it on their respective MP3 players. They were asked to not listen to the track before the event, which began at exactly 2:00 p.m. in the raised grass area between Thomas and Ritenour.

The hijinks were facilitated by a mysterious narrator named “Jim” who instructed participants to engage in some strange activities. Participants took naps, formed conga lines, turned into zombies and fought invisible space aliens with slow-motion kung-fu.

Judging by the turnout and the willingness of all to participate in random and embarrassing flash mob-esque shenanigans, The Experiment went very well. Check out the video and see for yourself.
