Town Hall Tonight: Know Your Rights

The Governator probably won't be at tonight's town hall meeting, but it's still very much worth your time.

The University Park Undergraduate Association will hold a town hall style meeting tonight focusing on students’ rights and safety, featuring attorney Andrew Shubin as a guest speaker.

UPUA Public Relations Director Emily Enders says that all are encouraged to attend the event.

Students will have the opportunity to have an honest conversation among peers and seek advice from this local, established lawyer. It is another part of UPUA’s safety initiatives. It is an important component as we move forward to work together as an undergraduate body to better town and gown relations. We hope this forum can provide a healthy environment for productive conversation.

So if you ever want to have a better idea of what to do if you get stopped by police downtown (but that would never happen to you), or if you should find yourself in a dangerous situation, come out, speak up, and learn some useful tips.

The meeting will take place tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in 101 Thomas.
