Lady Lions Basketball Routs Maine, 95-41

The Penn State women’s basketball team continued their dominance at home with a 95-41 win over Maine on Sunday. The Lady Lions were led by Maggie Lucas’ 22 points and Nikki Greene’s double-double.

The outcome of the game was never in doubt as Penn State broke out to an early 10-2 lead. Later in the half, the Lady Lions used a 17-0 run to move the lead out to 35-7. Another run to end the half gave the Lady Lions a 49-13 advantage heading into the break.

In the second half, Penn State led by as much as 53 points when the score was 71-18, and the Lady Lions coasted to the finish. Maine could not get too much closer, and Penn State closed out the game, 95-41. The victory was Penn State’s third in a row and made them a perfect 5-0 at home.

Along with Lucas’ 22 points, Greene had 12 points and 14 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Mia Nickson came close to getting double-double as well, but could only grab nine rebounds to go with her ten points. Zhaque Grey was the fourth Nittany Lion to reach double figures in points with 13.

With the victory, Penn State is now 9-2. Next up for the Lady Lions is the fourth game in their seven-game home stand. This match-up will be against Delaware next Sunday at 2 p.m.
