Penn State Grad Santorum Comes From Behind in Iowa

Rick Santorum, Penn State graduate and Republican presidential candidate, came in second place in the Iowa caucus yesterday. Santorum had been polling in the low single-digits before a late surge this weekend put him in contention to win the caucus.

Observations: TicketCity Bowl

Everyone saw Penn State take a beating in the TicketCity Bowl from Case Keenum and the Houston Cougars, but there was plenty that didn't make it on your television screen. Our own Kevin Horne provides his observations from Dallas.

Icers Head Outdoors For College Winter Classic

The Penn State Icers will play in the first-ever College Winter Classic when they take on Neumann University at 8 p.m. tomorrow night at Citizens Bank Park. Here's what you need to know if you're planning on going.

Houston Overpowers Penn State in the TicketCity Bowl

Penn State really did not have a chance on a day when Houston quarterback Case Keenum nearly set the record for most completions in a bowl game. The Nittany Lions could not muster enough offense to keep up in a 30-14 loss in the TicketCity Bowl in Dallas.

Keenum went 45-69 passing for 532 yards and three touchdowns on the day. The record he nearly broke had been 47 pass completions, which was set by Northwestern's Mike Kafka in the 2010 Outback Bowl. Patrick Edwards led the way receiving with 228 yards on nine catches.

TicketCity Bowl: Gameday Preview

While the Penn State football team may have been on a break, the stories out of State College sure have not. The Nittany Lions seem to have a new head coach every day. Matt McGloin got knocked out (literally) of the TicketCity Bowl. Amid the distractions, the team is now in Dallas for a January 2nd match-up with No. 19 Houston.

The Bolden Bowl

The Ticket City Bowl will feature No. 20 Houston (12-1, 8-0) versus No. 24 Penn State (9-3, 6-2) with sophomore Rob Bolden starting at quarterback for the Nittany Lions as a concussion will keep Matt McGloin sidelined. Neither the teams nor the aforementioned player were supposed to be in Dallas for this game. Now, Rob Bolden has the chance to retake the starting quarterback position once again.
