Four UPUA Representatives Disregard Capital Day, Constituents, and Democracy

When the bus leaves for Harrisburg on April 4, carrying most members of your student government, four representatives won't be on it. Capital Day, as it states on the website, "brings together alumni and student advocates for Penn State and connect them with their state legislators. " It seems like the ideal event for student leaders to attend, but that is not the case for four members of our student government.

The End of an Era: UPUA’s 6th Assembly

Resolution 34-06, which allocates $6,800 to promote "Sexual Assault Awareness Week" from April 17-20, had received quite a bit of press leading up the meeting, and created more student interest than is typical for UPUA legislation. Every UPUA meeting opens up with roll call followed by an open student forum session. While typically just a procedural act that no student takes advantage of, this night was different. Only With Consent, a new student group, along with a spattering of other students filled the gallery waiting for an opportunity to speak in favor of the bill.

Lewis Black to Perform at Eisenhower Auditorum

Acclaimed stand-up comedian and Comedy Central veteran Lewis Black will bring his comedic ramblings to Penn State. SPA will host the show at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 29 in Eisenhower Auditorium. Tickets are free to students with their ID beginning Monday, March 26. Students may receive two tickets per ID.
