Penn State Walk For Prevention

Penn State students have been looking for a way to help fight sexual abuse, and an organization named Darkness to Light has given an answer.

This Sunday at 10 a.m. is the Penn State Walk For Prevention, an event aimed at preventing child abuse, and encouraging those who see signs to act immediately.

Darkness to Light, better known as D2L, is a not-for-profit organization out of Charleston, SC that has taught over 300,000 adults ways to “prevent, recognize and react responsibly to signs of child abuse.” To find more information about this organization, or to complete the Stewards of Children training, visit their website here.

Registration for this Sunday’s 1-mile walk is just $15. You can find the Facebook event here, and the registration site here. Walkers will meet at 10 a.m. outside of Thomas (the event will end at Thomas as well). You can sign up for a team, or as an individual, and use social media to encourage family and friends to donate to your page. For more information you can tweet @PSUWalk, or send an e-mail to psuwalk@gmail.com.

Plenty of us have been looking for a way to stop any sort of abuse from ever happening again. This is the first step.
