Lady Lions Ranked #8 in Pre-Season Polls

Coming off of an amazing 2011-2012 season, the Penn State Women’s Basketball Lady Lions are ranked #8 in Lindy’s Pre-Season Top 25 poll.

Coquese Washington’s Lady Lions had a stellar season last year (26-7, 13-3 Big Ten) including a Sweet Sixteen appearance against UConn. Although they lost experience in Zhaque Gray who graduated in May, redshirt junior Dara Taylor has stepped up and has added depth to the roster. Freshman Candice Agee will be another solid addition, having played for the U18 USA National Team. She scored 27 points and grabbed for 15 rebounds in the gold medal game when USA beat Brazil 71-47.

It is no surprise that the Lady Lions are the highest ranked Big Ten team in the poll, having taken the conference title last year when they beat Ohio State in a classic showdown at home. Maggie Lucas and Alex “AB” Bentley are back with a vengeance to take down UConn on Dec 6th, and they aren’t afraid to dish it out to every team on the way.

This team has so much talent and experience. It’s hard to look past what they’ve already accomplished. They absolutely dominated throughout their recently completed European tour and will be using that momentum to kick off their season on November 11th when they take on Howard in the Bryce Jordan Center.
