Why You Should Buy Basketball Season Tickets
This week in the HUB, Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Penn State students will have the opportunity to purchase season tickets for the 117th season of Men’s Basketball for just $40. As the President of Nittany Nation, the official student section of Penn State Men’s Basketball, I’m here to tell you why you should do it.
For the past year and a half, Head Coach Patrick Chambers has turned this program into something to be excited about. Every single body hits the floor for a loose ball. Every single rebound is ripped out of the air. Every single player has something that Chambers has preached about since day 1: attitude.
This is Penn State basketball. This is what you should be excited for in the coming winter months. This is why you should show up to every single game in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Senior point guard Tim Frazier is one of the best (and fastest) in the Big Ten and is just 30 points shy of his 1,000th point. With the addition of D.J. Newbill, a transfer from Southern Mississippi, our backcourt will be just about unstoppable. This is no longer a “young” team. Jermaine Marshall, Jon Graham, and Sasa Borovnjak have all seen the floor and have had the opportunity to improve. Nick Colella, now on scholarship, gained experience last season as he began as a walk-on and made it to a consistent starting position.
There are 17 opportunities for you to get to the BJC and watch these guys play. Excluding exhibition game that is free for everybody, buying season tickets would cut the price in half if you attend every game. In addition, you’ll get a Nittany Nation t-shirt, early access to Hoops Madness featuring a performance by rapper Big Sean, and in-season perks that will be announced as the season goes on.
Coach Chambers and his personality alone should be able to convince you, but take a look at their first practice video for a taste of what this team gives every single day on the court.
This year, the team will have the opportunity to beat some of the best teams in the country here at home, with both Indiana and Ohio State coming to the BJC this January. The B1G/ACC Challenge will be held here on November 28th against Boston College. These guys need the support of the student body to show up and be loud every single gameday. If you’ve never jumped up and down to “Zombie Nation” after a Ross Travis dunk, you need to experience it for yourself.
This is your opportunity to show Penn State pride, uphold the “One Team” motto, and watch some awesome college hoops here in Happy Valley.
Just fast forward to 3:10 to see what this team is all about…
