Lady Lions to Face Notre Dame in B1G/ACC Challenge

On Wednesday, December 4th, the Lady Lions will host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Bryce Jordan Center for the 7th Annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Fighting Irish made it to their 3rd consecutive Final Four this past season and finished at No. 2 in the AP polls.

The Lady Lions graduated five players this May, but will return with 2013 Big Ten Player of  The Year Maggie Lucas as well as Dara Taylor, Ariel Edwards, Talia East, and Tori Waldner — all key players in the 2012-2013 season that resulted in an outstanding 26-6 record. The Lady Lions also won their second consecutive Big Ten Conference Championship under the helm of Head Coach Coquese Washington. The Lady Lions are 5-0 all time against Notre Dame.

Washington led Notre Dame to their first ever NCAA Championship game when she played there in the early 90’s. In 1999 she was hired as an assistant coach under current Head Coach Muffet McGraw, and finished out as Associate Head Coach before she was hired at Penn State.

This will be Notre Dame’s first year in the Atlantic Coast Conference, having previously played in the Big East.

The games will be played out over 2 days, December 4 and 5.
