New York Mets Are FTK
The New York Mets might be 14 games below .500 in June, but that doesn’t mean the struggling baseball team can’t pitch in FTK!
The Hope Gala, an annual THON fundraiser in New York City held by Penn State alumni, will host an “Afternoon Benefitting THON” game at Citi Field next month. When the Mets play the Phillies on July 21, a portion of the profit from the tickets purchased through this link will go fo the Four Diamonds Fund.
The $55 seats are located in the center field Big Apple reserved section. $10 of each ticket will go to The Hope Gala, which encourages fans to wear THON attire in the stands. The tickets typically cost $65 and are offered at a discounted rate just for this event.
The Mets-Phillies game kicks off at 1:10 p.m., but fans who show up two hours early will get to enjoy some pre-game THON-related activities, including a dance marathon, THON songs, and “big screen time.”
The five-year-old Hope Gala is operated by the New York City and New Jersey chapters of the Penn State Alumni Association. Its annual fundraiser is a black tie event held in New York City which generally attracts some impressive speakers, like Jay Paterno. The 2013 gala raised a total of $74,000 for the kids.
The Mets are now the third Major League Baseball team to announce a THON fundraiser game this summer. The Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates are both holding similar events.
