Provost Nicholas Jones to Hold Open House

All Penn State faculty, students, staff, and community are welcome to join Executive Vice President and Provost Nicholas Jones for an open house on October 30. The event will take place in the Nittany Lion Inn Ballroom from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In July, Jones took over the position from Robert Pangborn, who had held the job on an interim basis since 2011. Before coming to Penn State, Jones served as the Benjamin T. Rome Dean of the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

As Executive Vice President and Provost, Jones is the chief academic officer of the university, making him responsible for the academic administration of resident instruction, research, continuing education, and the general welfare of the faculty and students. He also acts as the chief executive officer in the absence of the president.

Jones will give a few opening remarks followed by a meet-and-greet where light refreshments will be served. To RSVP — which is not necessary though it is appreciated — contact Lori Smith at [email protected].
