First People In Line At THON 2014 Arrived at 5:45 A.M.

Meet Julie Apfelbaum and Brooke Abbonizio, the first people in line to get into THON.

Apfelbaum, representing Sigma Kappa and Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Abbonizio, holding a spot for Gamma Phi and Acacia, said that they’ve been in line since 5:45 a.m. The two have battled the elements all day, as it’s been raining since the early hours of the morning. The wet clothes, however, are a small price to pay for prime seating inside the Bryce Jordan Center.

“We wanted to make sure we had our spot in the BJC,” Apfelbaum said. “Yeah we’re crazy, but look where we are in line!”

“It’s been pouring and raining all day, but we’ve still been here,” Abbonizio said. “Our sorority brought hot chocolate, and theirs ordered pizza. We aren’t sitting in the same section, so we’re camping out together. It’s been fun out here.”

The two sororities are claiming a spot to support their combined 19 dancers. “You’ll know who our dancers are, because we’ll be making noise all weekend,” Abbonizio said. “Gamma Phi is the group that has the thunder sticks every year to make noise, so it’ll be very easy to find us.”
