Why Is KDR Carrying Around Plungers?
If you’ve walked around the concourse of the Bryce Jordan Center at all this weekend, you’ve most likely seen them. They’re one of the main props this year for groups to carry around and dance with.
What are they? Plungers. Yes, plungers. The very same ones that one might decide to clean their bathroom with.
But where did this odd trend start? With the brothers of Kappa Delta Rho.
“Last year, we asked our pledges to bring a prop to dance with, because dancing is always more fun with props,” KDR President Josh Tonn said. “People brought a wide range of things, but one of the freshmen brought a plunger. We thought it was hilarious.”
Before the end of Friday night of THON 2013, McLanahan’s was sold out of the mundane cleaning tool, and the trend was set. “Everyone had to have one,” Vice President Tramell Perry said. “They’re too great. This year, we planned it out and everybody had one. We bought out McLanahan’s earlier this week.”
“They’re hilarious and fun,” Tonn said. “Why not have them? Who doesn’t want to carry around a plunger?”
Apparently, none of the brothers of Kappa Delta Rho.
