Phyrst Named One Of Top 31 College Bars In America By Business Insider

Business Insider recently took to finding the 31 “best and most beloved college bars in the country,” and State College’s own Phyrst made the cut.

The website gave nods to 111 E. Beaver Ave.’s preference among birthday-goers, nightly live music and Phyrst Girls. While it didn’t note that Joe Jonas had his first legal beer there, I’m sure the Phyrst appreciates the nod nonetheless.

I’ve never been to the Phyrst (or any local bar, because I’m 20), but I’ve sent quite a few friends on their merry way to it on their night of first legality and its place in the Penn State vernacular is undeniable. I do turn 21 in exactly a month, however, so I guess I’ll get to see what all the fuss is about soon enough.

Penn State bars are no stranger to these sort of lists. Zeno’s was recently recognized on Men’s Health list, while Indigo got a nod from the Daily Meal this fall.
