Snappy’s: Renegotiate My Lease When September Ends

Snappy’s convenience store, located on the corner of East College Avenue and Pugh Street, plans to close at the end of September due to an unaffordable rent, according to manager Juliette LoCasale.

“Our lease is up at the end of September and our rent is too high,” she said. “We might try to renegotiate, only if our sales remain at a good rate.”

Snappy’s downtown location has been open for the past four and a half years.

“This is a prime location, but it’s an expensive location,” said LoCasale. Friedman Real Estate Group owns the lease, she said.

However, if LoCasale is successful in renegotiating the lease, or finds a way to earn more profits using fewer employees, the store may remain open for at least the immediate future.

“If we can get some customers to support us, we’d love to stay here,” she said. “We do a lot for the community, we do a lot of fundraisers, if we could have some support for the store, that would be great.”
