The Board of Trustees discussed a resolution on the Freeh Report for three to four hours in executive session this morning, and though it didn’t come to a unified stance, Trustee Anthony Lubrano said after the meeting that it was the most open discussion the board has ever had about it.

At the board’s last meeting, Al Lord presented a resolution that the board re-investigate Freeh’s investigation, and it determined it would need executive session prior to a vote. At today’s meeting, Lord said he was pleased with the morning discussion, but asked that the board take a stance on the report within the next 30 days.

“It was a very open, civil conversation about the resolution as proposed by Trustee Lord,” Lubrano said. “In fact, I would say in my two and a half years on the board, this was the first time we actually addressed this issue in that format. The Freeh Report was released on July 12, 2012. We have never, ever, until today, had any conversations other than to talk about the recommendations.”

In executive session, the board attempted to reach a passable resolution about its stance on the Freeh Report. Lubrano said the board hopes to have another discussion within the coming weeks to build a premise upon which it can agree. If the board cannot think of an agreeable resolution, it will revert to Lord’s original one (which you can read at the bottom of this post).

“As far as I’m concerned, this was a step in the right direction, and, in good faith, we agreed to have a conversation that will hopefully result in a resolution we can put forth that everyone can live with,” Lubrano said.
