72 Fall Student-Athletes Selected as Academic All-Big Ten Honorees

For years, Penn State has been known for its student-athletes’ performance in the classroom. The tradition continued this semester, as 72 Nittany Lions have been honored by the Big Ten for their performance off the field during the fall sport season.

The football team led the way with 20 honorees, and the men’s soccer team followed close behind with 14 honorees. The field hockey team had 12 athletes honored, the women’s soccer team had 10, the women’s volleyball and women’s cross country teams each had six, and the men’s cross country team rounded out the list with four honorees.

According to the Big Ten, to be eligible for selection, athletes must “be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.”
