New Hookah Lounge Seeks To Offer Alternate Experience

A new player will soon enter the State College hookah scene: Red Flame Hookah Lounge, located next to Insomnia Cookies in Ambassador Square, will open next week and seek to offer an alternate hookah experience.

The new establishment claims a desirable location for residents of the densely populated eastern downtown area. So long as they’re 18 and over, fans of hookah can try out the shop’s 30-plus flavors and unique choices like fresh fruit hookah. Owners Khaled and Omar Zaky, originally from Egypt, also plan to have pillow floor seating and tables near panel windows that will be open in warmer weather.

There are several fundamental differences in the atmosphere of Red Flame that set it apart from the local competition, according to its owners. The lounge’s future rival Chrome Liquor Lounge has a night club feel that draws in the 21-plus crowd during its later bar hours. The leather couches, TVs, and comfortable atmosphere of Red Flame will contrast the dimly lit “underground” feel of Chronic Town. The new establishment will also separate itself from competitors by offering a variety of food options, prepared at the neighboring College Town Café, where Zaky also works.

Hours will be 2 p.m to 2 a.m on Sunday through Thursday and 3 p.m to 3 a.m on Friday and Saturday.
