Blue & White Society Member Celebrates His Birthday While Dancing

For his first three years of college, Patrick Varone’s birthday was not the most important thing going on during the third week of February. See, his birthday always falls during the week of THON, and Varone usually put his focus on that weekend, through the Blue & White Society. His birthday never fell during THON — always before or after.

But this year, the same year Varone was chosen to dance for Blue & White Society, his birthday (February 20) happened to also be the first day of THON.

“It’s awesome!” said Varone. “I’m excited to have my birthday during THON and to spend my birthday dancing, especially my senior year. It’s incredible.”

He says he hasn’t received any presents yet, but as he stood making hot loops, he says that isn’t what’s on his mind right now.

“I’m not too worried about presents or anything else. I’m just excited for what the weekend will bring.”

His friends and DRCM wanted to make sure that Varone’s birthday was appropriately celebrated, so they dressed him in a beautiful birthday tiara, bow tie, and a birthday balloon. His ensemble surely makes it easier for the three Four Diamonds families the Blue & White Society supports to find him.

“The Blue & White Society has three Four Diamonds families: the Loose family, the Demmy family, and the Rundall family. I THON for them.”

So when Taylor Swift’s “22” inevitably blasts through the Bryce Jordan Center speakers this weekend, you’ll know one person is enjoying it more than the rest.
