The Many Jerseys Of THON

As a fanatic sports fan, jerseys of any kind are the key to my heart, especially if you’re rocking a throwback. As I strolled around the Bryce Jordan Center concourse, there were quite a few jerseys that caught my eye, so without further ado, check out some of the best jerseys THON weekend has to offer.

Ok, so I may have told a tiny lie, but I couldn’t help but stop and admire this beautiful piece of headwear. The City, for those of you who don’t know, was the retro logo used by the Golden State Warriors way back in 1969, back when the team was known as the San Fransisco Warriors. You probably won’t see a cooler tribute to a classic logo than this beauty right here.

Next up, we have an American basketball classic: A Michael Jordan Tune Squad jersey. Jordan, of course, led a cast of Looney Toons against the ferocious Monstars in the 1996 basketball classic, “Space Jam.” It takes extreme dedication to own one of these bad boys, and my man here certainly showed his basketball prowess off by rocking this legendary uni to THON.

Now here is a jersey that’s both quite relevant, and flat out awesome. This is, of course, the jersey of All-Star Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook. Russ is one of the most dynamic scorers in the NBA, and by donning the iconic number zero, it adds an infinite amount of style points to the jersey’s wearer–as seen above. I mean, how can you not have fun rocking a Westbrook jersey, especially at THON!

I’ve seen plenty of NFL team jackets in my lifetime, but none as unique as the one donned by this New York Giants Superfan. The jacket, in the iconic “varsity jacket” mold, features patches from all four of the team’s Super Bowl championships. The two patches on the sleeve to our left represent New York’s older championship years–1986 over the Denver Broncos, and 1990 over the Buffalo Bills. The two on the sleeve to our right represent the championships won by the Eli Manning-led Giants in 2007 and 2011–both won by defeating the New England Patriots. You can tell this is a dedicated Giants fan, and as a passionate sports fan myself, you just have to respect such commitment.

Ah, one of my personal favorites! Here, we have a dancer rocking a throwback jersey of Denver Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried. For all you basketball pundits out there, this jersey was used by the Nuggets in the mid 90s, worn by none other than the legendary Dikembe Mutombo!
