Penn State Football Coaching Staff To Host ‘Chalk Talk’ Clinic

James Franklin and the Penn State coaching staff will host middle and high school coaches at a spring “Chalk Talk” event, set to take place March 20 to 21 on campus.

The clinic, which will begin this Friday at 4:30 p.m. with final registration starting at 3 p.m. in Holuba Hall, will feature two days of lectures and demonstrations led by head coach James Franklin. Attendees will get to see the Nittany Lions’ first two drill-heavy spring practices before having dinner alongside the Penn State coaching staff later that evening. Franklin, defensive coordinator Bob Shoop, and offensive coordinator John Donovan will be among those making presentations to attendees.

“The Chalk Talk is a great way for us to help grow the game of football by engaging with coaches from Pennsylvania and the region,” Franklin said in a release. “It is an opportunity for us to exchange ideas and strengthen the relationships with these coaches.”

The event costs $20 per person and includes instruction, clinic materials, as well as Friday’s dinner and social. Coaches interested in attending the clinic can register by visiting the Penn State Sport Camps Website.

Get Out There And Meet People: CJ Doon’s Senior Column

Whether it’s natural curiosity or fear of the spotlight, I’m not sure, but I’ve always been more comfortable asking questions rather than answering them. Interviewing interesting people — friends, family, or strangers — is an enjoyable activity that I hope to turn into a living. At Penn State, I was afforded the opportunity to follow that passion — and then some.
