Sophomores’ Eight-Minute Sellout Highlights 21,200 Season Tickets Sold

We’re still a few months away from Penn State’s home opener against Buffalo, but we got one step closer to #107kStrong this past week.

Student season ticket sales went live starting with seniors and grad students on Monday, and the elder students of Happy Valley’s sellout was the first of three. The Class of 2018 was the fastest class this year as it took a whole eight minutes to sell out its allotment.

“Our student section is unrivaled! We have the No. 1 student section in the country for a reason and this week’s sellout is just another example,” James Franklin said. “To have more than 21,000 students packing that end zone and supporting our guys is a true home field advantage. We expect to hear from the rest of the Nittany Nation and see 107K strong at each of our family reunions this season.”

Earlier this summer, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit told us that the student section is “as good as there is in the country.”

“Penn State at night, they create the ’12th man,'” he said. “They create turnovers. They create sacks. They’re involved. Whether it’s first down, second down, or third down, there’s the same energy from the crowd.”

The Nittany Lions will host seven out of twelve games this season, including a primetime matchup with Rutgers in late September and the Whiteout Game against Michigan two months later.
