The Chainsmokers To Perform Free Show At Nittany Block Party

The Chainsmokers, a disc EDM DJ duo based out of New York City, will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 28 at the Nittany Block Party on Pollock Road to kickstart the school year and the Student Planning Association’s concert series.

The duo, consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall, rose to fame with their 2014 hit song “#Selfie.” The group formed in 2012 and quickly earned a devoted fan base by remixing songs of popular artists such as Tove Lo, The Killers, Neon Trees, and many more. Their hit “#Selfie” has since reached 355 million views on Youtube. They recently followed “#Selfie” with another hit, “Kanye,” and continued to expand their growing fan base through their signature sound. They recently visited Lollapalooza and are continuing to tour across the country.

In April of 2015, the duo furthered their success by signing with manager Adam Alpert’s  joint label with Sony Music Entertainment, Disruptor Records. The Chainsmokers’ performance will be free to all students and showcases SPA’s consistency of bringing big names to campus. In the past few years, acts such as Imagine Dragons and Hoodie Allen have come to campus without costing students a penny. Check out some of Chainsmokers hits below to get a taste of what the EDM group will bring to Happy Valley this August.
