THON Hoops To Be Held This Saturday At The BJC

Penn State men’s basketball will take on Eastern Michigan #FTK this Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center at noon.

Student tickets are free and are available on THINK’s website (log-in required). T-shirts are also available for $10. Ticket and shirt pickups will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Friday.

The men’s basketball team currently sits with a 3-2 record, having beat VMI, DePaul, and Bucknell while falling to Duquesne and Radford. Last year’s team went 12-1 in non-conference play, although a lot of its success is attributed to the since-graduated DJ Newbill. Coach Pat Chambers’ current squad is in the midst of reloading, and if there’s any immediate payoff in that, it’s that the team is more competitive with teams that it would’ve easily beat a year ago.

Eastern Michigan is 4-2, and similarly has wins over teams it should’ve beat and losses to Oakland and, in blowout fashion, Michigan State. The Nittany Lions and the Eagles both have games this week that will change their records before Saturday.

Be sure to get your free ticket and support THON and men’s basketball this Saturday. More information about the event can be found here.

Update 1:20 p.m.: THON announced on Monday that for every student that attends, AAA will donate $3 with a $10,000 cap. Students can also credit their orgs on THINK, where they will be given vouchers to turn in by halftime.
