Kicker Quinn Nordin Decommits From Penn State

Kicker Quinn Nordin has decommitted from Penn State, proving that plane commitment videos don’t mean what they use to.

The nation’s top-rated kicker, Nordin committed to the Nittany Lions on July 10. Since then, he’s flirted with his home-state school, taking at least three known visits to Ann Arbor. He even had a sleepover with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. Nordin has also shown interest in Baylor and USC, officially visiting the Bears on January 22 and scheduled to visit the Trojans on January 29.

While James Franklin and company obviously did what they could to keep the kicker in the fold, Nordin finally cut the Nittany Lions loose. Luckily for the Nittany Lions, Franklin and special teams coordinator Charles Huff offered former Rutgers kicker commit Alex Barbir, who flipped his commitment to Penn State earlier this week, assuring the team will have a scholarship kicker next year.

Penn State does have Georgia punter Blake Gillikin committed, who could conceivably pull double-duty for the Nittany Lions as a punter and kicker if Tyler Davis, Joey Julius, or Barbir can’t lock down the job themselves.
