Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra To Hold ‘Music For The Heart’ Concert At Pasquerilla Spiritual Center

If you’re looking for a date more sophisticated than just dinner this Valentine’s Day at Penn State, you’re in luck. The Pasquerilla Spiritual Center is hosting “Music for the Heart”, a special Valentine’s Day concert presented by The Pennsylvania Centre Orchestra (PCO), on Sunday, February 14 at 3 p.m. The College of Medicine’s Director of Medical Education Research Paul Haidet will also give a free pre-concert lecture on the health benefits of music at 2 p.m.

The concert showcases several Penn State School of Music faculty members, as well as Penn State alumni who have contributed to the program. Danya Katok, Penn State alumna and voice teacher at Brooklyn College, will perform as a guest soloist. Ben Firer, an instructor in the School of Music, will make his debut as the assistant conductor of the PCO.

After the concert, alumni and concertgoers are invited to a reception at Juniper Village in State College to meet the performers. Katok and PCO music director Yanik Attar are scheduled to perform two encore performances as well.

Adult tickets are available for purchase for $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Penn State students and children 16 and under can purchase tickets for $5.
