Springfield Dancer Proposes To High School Sweetheart

Prior to THON, each dancer must fill out a dancer survey in order for their Dancer Relations committee member to better fit their needs. One question asks the dancers to make one wish for THON 2016. For Mark Trevor that wish was to propose to his long time girlfriend Jessie Setlock.

However, Setlock is a DRCM herself, and Trevor didn’t realize she had access to his questionnaire. He explained that she was upset upon reading his wish since it was no longer a surprise. Having wanted to propose to her for a long time, Trevor still wanted to make it happen.

For the next few weeks he played off like the engagement wasn’t going to happen, telling her he hadn’t even purchased a ring yet. Behind the scenes he asked another member of Springfield to create a poster saying, “Jessie Nicole Setlock, Will You Marry Me?” in intricate script lettering.

Early Saturday morning Trevor managed to pull Setlock aside during her busy DRCM shift. She watched as the Springfield members held up the sign and before she knew it, Trevor was down on one knee asking for her hand in marriage.

“I had her DR committee line up because they knew it was going to happen,” Trevor said. “I brought her over to take a picture and had someone bring the poster out. I just said ‘look at this!’ and went down on one knee, and she went hysterical.”

Congratulations, Mark and Jessie!
