Homecoming 2016 Logo Revealed
At half time of the Blue White Game every year, the Homecoming Executive Committee releases its logo for the coming fall’s celebration, but only if Penn State is winning. Fortunately Penn State was up this year come the half and Homecoming revealed its logo for Homecoming 2016, Old State Inspiring New Beginnings:
The Homecoming logo is traditionally designed by a Penn State graphic design student, and this year the honor went to junior Kyle Cernicky. The logo will be seen on everything from balloons to parade floats to clothes come Homecoming week.
Homecoming went with a vertical look for its logo this year, opting for a simple yet powerful design.
The logo features the iconic Beaver Stadium weathervane which is symbolically guarded by the Nittany Lion as students are welcomed in. “It represents the coming together of people from diverse backgrounds, all unified for one reason,” said Cernicky, “which is exactly what Homecoming means to me.”
Homecoming 2016 is set for October 3-8 with the week-long celebration culminating in the Homecoming game against Maryland. More details will be released as we get closer to the week of traditions, including the Grand Marshal, Homecoming Court, and parade details.
