GoFundMe Created To Support Former Wrestler Jim Vollrath’s Fight Against Cancer

A GoFundMe was recently created to help former Penn State wrestler Jim Vollrath, who was diagnosed with bone cancer, more specifically Ewing’s sarcoma. The page was created by Taryn Marino on June 23 and explains the following:

Jim Vollrath was recently diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma cancer. We are raising money to help with his chemotherapy treatments and all other medical expenses. Any donations will be extremely helpful! Thank you to everyone who is supporting Jim’s battle ❤

The page, as of 8:30 this morning, has raised more than $14,400 of its $25,000 goal. Yesterday at noon the page had only raised $706 with a $15k goal, but has seen a spike in support and near constant donations over the last 20 hours.

Vollrath wrestled at Penn State from 2009 to 2013 most recently in the 157 class. According to his official page, Vollrath entered his senior season with the Nittany Lions with 60 career wins and won a number of key middle-weight victories for the team. He went to Council Rock South High School where he earned All-American honors. Vollrath studied kinesiology while he was at Penn State.

Our thoughts are with Vollrath and his family during this difficult time, and it appears the Penn State community is there as well.
