Penn State Football Ranked In Top 20 Most Dominant Programs By Business Insider

Football season is already in full swing at Penn State. Even with a few tough losses under the program’s belt early in the season, Business Insider believes Penn State was always a force to be reckoned with. According to a recent ranking, Penn State has the No. 18 most dominant football program of the modern era.

Business Insider compiled information from Niche, a company that researches and compares different schools and universities. Niche created a list of colleges with the best football programs based on “number of BCS bowl appearances, number of NCAA championship wins, and average attendance at home games.” Niche also took student surveys, number of BCS bowl wins, and number of alumni in the NFL into consideration when compiling the list.

In its own ranking, Business Insider also included the number of National Championship wins since 1936 instead of using Niche’s list of wins since 2000. The website noted that Penn State has two National Championship wins, 343 alumni to ever play in the NFL, and an average of of 96,587 people attending home games at Beaver Stadium. Penn State edged out West Virginia and Tennessee to land the No. 18 spot.
