CBS Sports Names Barkley National Player Of The Week

Saquon Barkley’s career day on Saturday earned him CBS Sports College Football National Player of the Week.

Barkley played a huge role in the 62-24 win over Purdue.

He rushed for 207 yards on 18 carries for an average of 11.5 yards per carry. He also had a career-long 81 yard run as one of the two touchdowns he had against the Boilermakers.

He picked up three receptions for a total of 70 yards as part of Trace McSorley’s 228 passing yards on the day.

Barkley totaled 277 yards against Purdue, which was also a career high for the sophomore.

Saturday was part of just another day in a huge year for Barkley. Between his five-touchdown game against Pitt or his Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor after the Maryland game, Barkley has been huge for the Nittany Lions.

Barkley leads the Big Ten this season with 888 yards rushing and 11 total touchdowns through eight games. He has a chance to add to these totals next Saturday in Beaver Stadium against Iowa.
