Penn State Student Sections Create #OneTeamMovember To Benefit Uplifting Athletes

If you’re a Penn State fan into extreme facial hair and supporting good causes, you’re in luck. Five of Penn State’s student sections — Cooperstown, the Roar Zone, Legion of Blue, Wrecking Crew, and Nittanyville — are teaming up to give you #OneTeamMovember.

For the uninitiated, Movember is a fundraiser where you go the entire month of November without shaving to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. Roar Zone vice president Sam Watson thought a more Penn Sate-centric cause was fitting.

“Normally, money that’s raised during Movember is donated to the Movember foundation. Athletics has such a great relationship with uplifting athletes that it seemed like another way we could raise money for them. Movember and UA aren’t really related, but it felt right to use to combine the two causes,” Watson said.

Although Penn State’s student sections created #OneTeamMovember, you don’t have to be part of one to join. You just have to email a picture of yourself with a clean shaven face and a piece of paper that says “#oneteamMovember day 1” to [email protected] on November 1. On November 30 you’ll send another one in all your hairy glory and there will be a prize for the most impressive picture.

“This will be an awesome event for a really important cause, so if I’m ever going to fully shave this is a great reason for doing it,” said noted facial hair-haver and Roar Zone president Chris Godissart.
