LaVar Arrington Among Lettermen Who Will Be In Attendance For Michigan State Game

There’ll be plenty of letterman on Penn State’s sideline this Saturday for the regular season finale against Michigan State — a game that could propel the Nittany Lions to the Big Ten Championship Game with a loss from Michigan.

Nobody reps the Blue and White harder than former Linebacker U legend LaVar Arrington, and luckily for the Lions, he’ll be there on Saturday. Not only that, but Arrington wants as many lettermen as possible to come out and show their support for the program in arguably the most important game in the last eight years for the team.

Given Arrington’s penchant for game-changing plays, special teams coach Charles Huff tried his luck by asking him if he had any interest in suiting up for a kickoff. Unfortunately, due to NCAA eligibility rules and the lopsided mismatch the opposing coverage team would be facing, Arrington had to say no — much to the disappointment of the fanbase.

Franklin stressed the importance of engaging with the lettermen and what it means to the program to have them back supporting the 2016 Nittany Lions. Franklin listed a few names of former players he’d been in touch with — which also included Keith Conlin — but hinted that Arrington’s been the most vocal about his support. “As we all know, it doesn’t take a whole lot to get LaVar going. He’s very passionate about this place and very passionate about this community.”

Hopefully the sideline is teeming with lettermen on Saturday as the Lions prepare for a must-win contest that’s critical to their lofty postseason aspirations — which includes a College Football Playoff push.
