Robbie Gould’s Heroics Lead 49ers Past Titans In Upset Win

Former Penn State kicker Robbie Gould starred for the San Francisco 49ers in their upset victory over the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon, delivering the game-winning field goal for his team as time expired.

The 45-yard kick was one of six he made on the day, giving the 49ers their third consecutive victory. Gould, who played for the Nittany Lions from 2001-04, was responsible for 19 of San Francisco’s 25 total points on the afternoon; the other six came on Jimmy Garoppolo’s 5-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Penn State alumni made waves across the NFL in Week 15. Paul Posluszny clinched the first postseason berth of his 11-year career with the Jacksonville Jaguars after a dominant 45-7 victory over the Texans.

Most notably, Jesse James’ potential game-winning touchdown catch against New England was overturned after a lengthy review, allowing the Patriots to escape with a 27-24 win.
