Student Rapper Cinnamane Switches It Up For THON Crowd

At some point during the night, you get used to hearing the same old random State College bar band. Thankfully, we had Cinnamane, a class of 2018 Penn State student that took to the Bryce Jordan Center stage early Sunday morning.

Immediately, we knew we were in for something completely out of the ordinary. The rapper only played a handful of songs, but the transition to both a student and something outside of your generic band was necessary. The crowd seemed to respond well to it too, with many on the floor heading over to the performance despite the fact that he wasn’t one of the bigger-name artists or groups.

One of his songs, “Team No Sleep,” was custom crafted for his THON performance — throwing out everything from Willard Preacher to Saquon references.

It was a short set that he wrapped up with another one of his songs, “Back to You.”

“Thanks to the Entertainment for giving a guy a chance,” he said as he prepared to exit the stage. “When you see me on the street don’t be afraid to say hi. Don’t hesitate.”

Steve Connelly

Unfortunately, former editor Steve Connelly has graduated. Where is he now? He might be doing something related to that PR degree he got in 2019. Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
