Penn State Guard Tony Carr Named Big Ten Player Of The Week

Penn State men’s basketball guard Tony Carr was named the Big Ten’s Player Of The Week after leading the Nittany Lions to crucial conference wins over Illinois and then-No. 8 Ohio State.

The star sophomore averaged 21.3 points per game throughout the week, including 30 in a blowout victory over the Buckeyes at the Bryce Jordan Center.

He led the Nittany Lions’ offense all week, shooting 46 percent from the field over the course of the three games. Carr played extremely well against the Big Ten’s two best teams — Ohio State and No. 6 Purdue — en route to earning the first player of the week award of his career.

The Philadelphia native will be back in action this week as he and the Nittany Lions wrap up their regular season schedule with a home game against No. 17 Michigan and an away contest with Nebraska. Penn State takes on Michigan at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
