Pat Chambers Denies Connection To Federally-Investigated Sports Agency

A day after Yahoo released documents linking former Penn State men’s basketball star D.J. Newbill to federally-investigated NBA agent Andy Miller and his sports agency ASM Sports, Nittany Lions head coach Pat Chambers provided an update to his prior statement.

When Newbill showed up Friday on a balance sheet dated December 31, 2015 receiving a loan of $2,000 (that he later repaid in July 2017), Chambers said that he was not going to comment on it at the time because “the university needs time to look into that story.”

“I have no connection or association with Andy Miller or his agency. The University is looking into the information released on Friday. As I have stated, this program is committed to doing things the right way.” Chambers said in a statement to Blue-White Illustrated.

Newbill played at Penn State from 2012-15. It’s unclear whether he took the loan before or after graduating from the program.

After going undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft, Newbill played for the Los Angeles Clippers in the Summer League. Following his stint with the Clippers in the Summer League, Newbill went overseas to play in France, Turkey, Belgium, and currently New Zealand. He is currently listed as a client of ASM agent Stephen Pina.

Steve Connelly

Unfortunately, former editor Steve Connelly has graduated. Where is he now? He might be doing something related to that PR degree he got in 2019. Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
