Penn State Hillel Donating Purim Basket Proceeds To Gun Violence Awareness Organization

With Jewish holiday Purim coming up, students with Penn State Hillel want to use the opportunity to stand up to gun violence.

Much like Hillels across the country, Penn State’s will be selling mishloach manot — traditional packages of goodies sent to loved ones on Purim and given to symbolize a united community.

Penn State Hillel will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from its basket sales this year to Everytown for Gun Safety, an American non-profit organization that advocates for gun control.

“After the tragic shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, we at Penn State Hillel have decided to stand up and take action.  Enough is enough; no more children should ever feel unsafe at school, and no more innocent lives should be lost due to gun violence,” Penn State Hillel posted on its website.

You can get a Purim basket from Penn State Hillel here for $18. The order form is open until Thursday, March 1.

There are two types of baskets available. The traditional basket includes an assortment of hamentashen, party beads, DIY Purim masks, and a noise maker. The Queen Esther basket also includes an assortment of hamentashen and party beads, as well as a soothing face mask and a stress ball.

Maybe he finally opened that sports bar named after one of his photos, the Blurry Zamboni. Or he might just be eating chicken tenders and couch surfing. Anything’s possible.
