Record Number Of Student-Athletes Graduate From Penn State

A record-setting 135 student-athletes graduated from Penn State this weekend, and a total of 169 student-athletes earned either undergraduate or master’s degrees this school year after an additional 34 did so last semester.

This weekend’s numbers far exceed the previous respective records for one semester and an entire school year.

Before this semester, the most student-athletes to graduate at once was 111 in the spring of 2017. Spring 2019’s total is a 22 percent increase from that mark. The 169 student-athletes to earn diplomas this year also comfortably topped the previous record of 156 set in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Of the student-athletes who graduated this weekend, 65 percent earned Academic All-Big Ten honors by maintaining at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Unsurprisingly, football, the team with the largest roster, topped the list with 15 spring graduates. Women’s track and field/cross country placed second with 13 graduates, and men’s track and field/cross country was third with 10.
