UPUA To Host Virtual Executive Town Hall August 18

The University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA), Penn State’s student government, will host a virtual executive town hall at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18.

The town hall will cover a number of topics, including Penn State’s fall semester plans, systemic racism at the university, and updates on what UPUA’s been up to all summer. President Zach McKay and Vice President Lexy Pathickal will be on hand to speak and answer questions.

After ending summer meetings in early June, UPUA’s 15th Assembly hasn’t met in its typical Wednesday night assembly fashion. However, some representatives have continued working throughout the summer. McKay and Pathickal will provide updates on what their summer work entailed.

The duo will also touch on allegations of racism and discrimination that have come to light regarding UPUA and its culture. Earlier this summer, UPUA released a statement responding to the allegations and outlined a set of steps the organization will implement to address the negative culture.

Those interested in attending the event may submit questions of their own. Prospective viewers should keep an eye out for a Zoom link on UPUA’s social media channels ahead of the town hall.
