‘Be A Part From The Start’, ‘BASH’ virtual events to Welcome Students Back to Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK All members of the Class of 2024 are encouraged to ‘Be A Part From The Start,’ on Sunday, Aug. 23, when Lion Ambassadors and the Penn State Alumni Association host the annual welcome back event.

This year’s ‘Be A Part From The Start’ is going virtual and will welcome the newest class of Nittany Lions to Penn State’s vibrant and exciting community.

First-year students can tune into a live broadcast at 8 p.m. on Aug 23, where they will hear Penn State fight songs, watch upperclassmen welcome them to Penn State, and feel the University’s spirit and pride.

Special appearances will be made throughout the broadcast, with community leaders , athletic coaches, the Blue Band, and several student clubs and organizations all taking part in the welcome back event.

With the event going virtual this semester, all Penn Staters, not just first-year students are invited to join and enjoy ‘Be A Part From The Start.’

The welcome week fun doesn’t start and stop Sunday evening, though.

‘BASH,’ with support from the Alumni Association, is the Blue & White Society’s signature welcome back event will take place virtually Aug. 24 through Aug. 28.

‘BASH’ will start on Monday, Aug. 24 with an exciting presentation on the Top 10 Things all Penn Staters Should Know with the Lion Ambassadors from 11:30-1:30. Learn the in’s and out’s of Penn State culture and traditions, from the Creamery to the best photo spots at various campuses.

On Aug. 26, there will be an Involvement Panel via Zoom with organizations including Lion Ambassadors, Black Caucus, THON, Homecoming, Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity and others. Students can tune in from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to learn how to get involved at Penn State.

Aug. 27, hop on Zoom for a keepsake digital caricature, created in less than five minutes from 12-3 p.m. At 4 p.m, the Blue & White Society is proud to host Rain Dove, LGBT advocate and supermodel, for an interactive session about their experiences.

Later that night on the 27th, the Blue & White Society will host a special trivia night from 7-8:30 p.m., which will be broadcasted on their Facebook page.

Like ‘Be A Part From The Start,” all Penn Staters are welcome and encouraged to join in on the ‘BASH’ fun.
