Podward State Interviews: UPUA President Zach McKay

On a special episode of Podward State, we sat down with Zach McKay, president of the University Park Undergraduate Association, to discuss Penn State’s return to campus amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Joined by Onward State associate editor and UPUA beat reporter Ryen Gailey, as well as visual staffer and State College local Sam Brungo, McKay breaks down what the student body government has been up to since the pandemic began. He also recounts what it was like to run a fully remote campaign back in April.

Additionally, McKay breaks down the restrictions, guidelines, and messaging Penn State has implemented during students’ return to campus, if he thinks they’ll be enough to pull off an in-person semester, and the effect the pandemic has had on the State College community.

Podward State will release weekly episodes this fall on Spotify and YouTube. Each will feature discussions about all things Penn State, including sports, news, student life, entertainment, and more.
