Penn State Extends Google, Email Access For Recent Graduates

Penn State is giving its newest alumni extended access to their email addresses and Google programs, according to an email to recent graduates.

The extension will give grads an extra year to access G Suite programs, including 14 applications such as Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Calendar, as well as their Office 365 email addresses. Previously, recent alumni received extended access for 90 days after graduation.

Penn State said it made the decision in response to the coronavirus pandemic, likely to give grads access to resources during these tough times.

The previous 90-day access was granted under the AD99 University Provided Email Policy. All of the details described in this policy apply to Penn State’s email users.

The extended access is granted to all 2020 graduates, including May, August, and December graduates. Extended access begins the date of graduation and lasts for a full year.

Emails for recent graduates will remain under the @psu.edu domain for the extended year. Once the year is up, it will transition to a fancy @weare.psu.edu domain.

Questions and concerns can be directed to the Penn State IT Service Desk.
