Transfer Portal Roundup: Week Six

Another week of college football has come and gone without Penn State football taking the field. However, several former Penn Staters saw some action this past weekend for their new teams.

Let’s take a look around college football and see how some Nittany Lions did this weekend.

Zech McPhearson, Texas Tech

McPhearson had a day for the Red Raiders on Saturday. McPhearson had ten tackles on the day, which was his new season-high. His best work came on special teams, where he housed a 90-yard blocked field goal for a touchdown.

The Red Raiders ended up losing the game 31-15 to Iowa State, but McPhearson is showing improvement every week. Texas Tech has a bye week coming up before hosting West Virginia on October 24.

Justin Shorter, Florida

It was another week of struggle and underachievement for Shorter, who caught only two passes again for 22 yards. He still finds himself as a depth receiving option for quarterback Kyle Trask.

It wasn’t only Shorter who struggled. The No. 4 Gators went down to College Station and lost to Texas A&M 41-38 on a last-second field goal. Shorter and the Gators will have a chance to bounce back against the defending national champion LSU Tigers at home on Saturday.

Hunter Kelly, University of North Carolina at Charlotte

Kelly again played some snaps for the 49ers. Charlotte scored a program record amount of points in the C-USA in their 49-21 win over North Texas.
