Transfer Portal Roundup: Week Seven

Finally, the last week without Penn State football has passed, and the anticipation is mounting for the Nittany Lions’ return to action this weekend for the 2020 season opener.

Although Penn State didn’t take the field this weekend, a few Nittany Lions saw action with other teams around college football. Here are a few (emphasis on few) noteworthy performances.

Daniel Joseph, North Carolina State

Joseph, a graduate transfer from Penn State, contributed two total tackles and a sack in the Wolfpack’s game against Duke on Saturday.

Bringing his sack total to three on the year, Joseph has had multiple impact performances for NC State this year. His defensive contributions have helped propel the Wolfpack to a 4-1 record, and the squad has cracked the AP Top 25 for the first time since 2018.

Joseph will attempt to increase his mounting sack total in NC State’s ranked rivalry matchup against No. 14 North Carolina this weekend.

DJ Brown, Louisiana Tech

Brown recorded one tackle in Louisiana Tech’s 35-17 loss to Marshall.

With that loss, Louisiana Tech is now in second place in the Conference USA West, while Marshall is the top team in the whole conference with a 4-0 record overall. The Bulldogs will battle the University of Texas at San Antonio next week.

Other Notables

With UTSA sitting at third place in the C-USA West, Louisiana Tech will seek contributions from players like DJ Brown in order to come away with a win.

Justin Shorter and Florida had their game against LSU postponed this week due to the coronavirus. Although Shorter has recorded six receptions for 46 yards thus far on the season, his solid production has him in line to produce more later on.

Zech McPherson and the Texas Tech Red Raiders did not play this week, but he is certainly a player to watch going forward in the season. He has recorded 22 total tackles and this monster fumble recovery on the year thus far.
