Penn State To Host International Education Week Starting November 16

In a partnership with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, Global Programs at Penn State will host International Education Week (IEW) in an effort to prepare students for a global marketplace and attract leaders from abroad to learn in the United States.

From Monday, November 16 until Friday, November 20, Global Programs will host a series of events and presentations focused on international education and opportunities. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to participate. Due to the pandemic, IEW will happen virtually this year.

Events that will take place throughout the week include the Global Engagement Fair on Monday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. the International Internships Fair on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m., and “See the World, Earn Some Cash: Teaching English Abroad as a Gap Year or Career” on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The complete list can be found here. Some events require prior registration.

By participating in the International Education Week,  students ate automatically entered for a chance to win a $50 gift card. Two winners will be selected randomly from the attendees list.

Students can also participate in a photo contest for a chance to win a $25 gift card. Participants must submit a photo of their international experiences to the IEW photo contest at this link. The deadline for photo submissions is on Thursday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m.

“In a world that is inextricably globally connected, providing international experiences and multicultural learning for students is a top priority,” said Dr. Roger Brindley, Vice Provost for Global Programs, in a message for IEW’s website. “We hope students enjoy the activities of the week and learn more about their world through their global participation!”
