Penn State Football To Don Throwback Uniforms Against Iowa

Penn State football will look a bit different this Saturday when it hosts Iowa at Beaver Stadium.

The team announced it will be wearing its “Generations of Greatness” uniforms against the Hawkeyes. The Nittany Lions have most recently worn these retro uniforms in 2019 against Purdue and 2017 against Indiana.

The team has yet to announce if the jerseys worn on Saturday will be the same as years past. They typically feature a combination of throwback elements such as numbers on the helmet, blue stripes down the pants, and white cleats.

Beaver Stadium has even played retro music and painted the end zones to replicate old designs before. With the pandemic this year, it’s unclear whether or not these changes will be implemented with no fans in the stands.

Perhaps these different uniforms will be the change of pace a struggling Penn State team needs. The Nittany Lions have opened their season with four straight losses for 2001. White cleats make you run faster, right?

You can see these uniforms in action this Saturday at 3:30. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
