Penn State To Host Historian Ibram X. Kendi For Virtual ‘Antiracist’ Q&A

Historian and author Ibram X. Kendi will give a virtual presentation on his book, “How To Be An Antiracist,” this week, Penn State announced.

Kendi’s event will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18. The event, which will be live-streamed here, requires a Penn State login for viewing.

Kendi is a professor at Boston University and the founder of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research. He was also named as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020. On top of all of that, Kendi is a National Book Award recipient and a New York Times No. 1 best-selling author.

In his book, Kendi shares his experiences about having to deal with racism. He discusses actionable steps to take when racism reveals itself and how to dismantle those racist thoughts and actions.

The theme of the book is that it isn’t enough to just be “not racist.” If one is truly going to fight for change, they need to act and call out any racist thoughts, words, or actions. That is what Kendi means when he wants people to be “antiracist.”

This event is available for all Penn State students, including alumni. If you are an alum who is interested in attending this event, you will need to reactivate your access account.
